Auditions for potential new members are held regularly each summer and during the concert season as needed to fill special concert requirements or openings in a particular section. Due to the high number of qualified applicants who submit requests each year, audition spaces are often limited.
If you are interested in joining the Chorus, please fill out this audition form and we will add you to our list of interested singers. We will contact you when we begin to schedule our next auditions and let you know if you have been offered a time slot.
What to Expect at an Audition
Be prepared to sing a song of your choice. Your song does not need to be memorized. If you need a pianist, please bring an extra copy of the music. You may sing without a pianist if you like. Our Artistic Director will lead some vocal exercises and work with you to determine which voice part is best for you. We encourage singers from a variety of musical backgrounds and experience levels to audition. You are expected to have a way to learn your music outside of rehearsal time. The chorus performs a variety of musical styles and difficulty levels. Click here to see examples of recent performances by the chorus.
Rehearsals
We rehearse once a week on Monday nights and one Thursday night per quarter at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church and occasionally at other venues. Rehearsals are from 7:00 – 9:30 PM. Sectional rehearsals are common, but usually only once per quarter. We rehearse from September to June and take the summer off. There is one overnight retreat in the fall and two single-day Saturday “retreat” rehearsals per year.
Performances
We typically sing three sets of two concerts each: December, March, and June. In 2024-2025, we are performing in November instead of December. Concert attire is black, but not uniform. When you join the choir, you are expected to sing for an entire season. If you need an exception to this, you should talk to your section leader and the Artistic Director.
Fill out this form to let us know you are interested, and we will contact you to let you know whether or not you have been offered an audition.
